Asako Hoichi, LCPC is a licensed clinical professional counselor with over 25 year experience. Asako is deeply committed to creating a space where individuals feel truly listened to and understood without judgment or criticism. She believes that trust is a fundamental component in building and maintaining any human relationship. Through her practice, she has been privileged to journey alongside her clients, earning their trust and walking with them through their unique challenges.

Asako specializes in working with adolescents and adults who are experiencing mood difficulties, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship problems, and life transitions. She tailors her therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs of each client, whether in individual, family, or couples’ counseling settings. Her therapeutic approach integrates several models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness skills, coping skills development, and self-care strategies. She works with adolescents and adults in various settings, including individual, family, and couples’ counseling. Her practice focuses on addressing mood difficulties, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

Asako holds a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling with a Mental Health Concentration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Fluent in both Japanese and English, she offers bilingual counseling sessions and seminars.

Asako challenges the notion that counseling is only for those who are not "normal," asserting that everyone's uniqueness and differences make them beautiful. She sees life's difficulties as part of its essence and believes that each person is in the driver's seat of their own life. As a counselor, her role is akin to that of a GPS, helping clients navigate their way back when they feel lost. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with her clients to find the best path forward.

In her free time, Asako enjoys kickboxing, traveling, and spending time with her family both in Chicago and Japan. She also going for walks with her golden retriever and watching her boys play basketball and volleyball.
