Sarah Alam, M.D.

BOARD CERTIFIED PSYCHIATRIST

Dr. Sarah Alam is a psychiatrist with specialized training in both adult and child/adolescentmental health. She earned her medical degree from Wright State University and completed her general psychiatry residency at the University of Central Florida. She is currently completing her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Alam is passionate about trauma-informed, holistic care and values working closely with families through a psychodynamic and collaborative lens. She has additional training in the Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), with special interests in transitional age youth, trauma, and autism. She is comfortable treating a wide range of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, neurodevelopmental conditions, sleep disorders, personality disorders, and more.

She has presented at AACAP on gender diversity and will soon present on autoimmune encephalitis and domestic violence. Her clinical experience covers diverse settings, and she understands Urdu and Hindi.

Outside of work, Dr. Alam enjoys exploring Chicago with her husband, cooking and trying new recipes, and participating in local run clubs, bake clubs, and volunteer groups.

Dr. Alam is currently accepting new patients. She is also working in close collaboration with Dr. Sharma to assist with all ADI patients and ensure that all patients (new and old) receive the best shared care possible.
